O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

Showing On: Netflix

Genre: Comedy, Music, Adventure

Haven’t really written much about anything I’ve seen recently, because not much I’ve been watching has really been worth writing about. But I saw this and thought it looked half decent. Turns out it was one of the best things I’ve watched in a while! Its set in the 1930’s, 3 guys break out of a prison camp and go off on their adventure! I guess I may have a soft spot for it as it was set in the 30’s. I like their accents, their basic clothes, their way of life and te god damn awesome music that is played frequently throughout. The music actually made me feel pretty happy! But it is very funny at parts and all the characters are equally as great, definitely watch if you’re looking through Netflix trying to find something. Now I’m just going to see of I can download the soundtrack for this film..

Good Will Hunting (1997)
Showing on: Netflix
Genre: Drama
I have no idea why I have never seen this film before. Always seeing quotes and screen caps of it all over tumblr so I don’t know why the hell I just scrolled past it all. I also had no idea that Matt Damon is as old as he is, and has been making films for pretty long time! He also co wrote this with Ben Affleck as well, so respect to them both. It has an awesome plot, where a teacher discovers that the college janitor has an amazing skill when it comes to math. However this kid is pretty messed up, so Robin Williams comes along as a psychiatrist trying to help him and not let all his talents be wasted. Please watch this if you have not already and have a netlfix subscription, it was worth the whole £6 i spent this month on the subscription.

Gone Baby Gone (2007)
Showing on: Netflix
Genre: Crime, Drama
Read the description and thought it’d give it a go. Basically the films about a missing child, and a pair of private detectives who join the hunt to find the girl. The film seemed to go from twist to twist and spread through pretty much every main character who had be introduced to us in the first few scenes! Although now I feel a little depressed by the whole film in general, it was a good watch. That may be because I have a younger sister so I can empathize more with the pain of the characters, or just because it was a pretty decent film. It was directed by Ben Affleck and the main character Patrick was played by his brother, Casey. Morgan Freeman is it in also. I mean, the mans a legend right?

Hard Candy (2005)
Showing on: Netflix
Genre: Thriller, Drama
I remember watching this film when it came out but really couldn’t remember what happened. It’s a about a 14 year old girl, Hayley Stark (Ellen Page) who gets talking to a 30 year old man on a chat room. Things progress and there’s a nice little twist at the end which is always fun. Wasn’t really sure where it was going at one point but it was pretty decent in the end. I always find it interesting enough watching young actors/actress’s though. Especially someone like Ellen Page who keeps going on to do bigger and better things.
